Let's Get This Thing Started!

Added on by Douglas Sharpe.

It has been about a month since I decided to make my major life move from the United States to the United Kingdom. As much as I would have liked the excitement of a traveling adventure to begin immediately, the reality was that taking care of job hunting items was top priority. For example, the website where this travel blog resides, work sample sheets with updated projects and my new contact information, as well as having to create work samples, originally on letter sized pages, in A4 (European paper standard) so that I would be able to print out hard copies to hand deliver, while also designing myself a business card. Once these tasks were completed, then I could start to consider my much anticipated adventure.

Where did it all start? I am currently living with my brother and his family in a city named Crawley located about 28 miles south of London. For you Tampa people, that's about the same distance from downtown Tampa to Dade City.

I haven't made my way into London yet because I cannot justify the expense; however, when my work sample hard copies are completed and maybe if/when my business cards arrive, then I'll make my way into London to visit architecture firms and do some exploring.

That isn't to say I haven't done some exploring, albeit minimal, of the area I'm residing in, Crawley. I make a daily commute on the bus to city center where I can work diligently and without distraction at the city library. Quiet study areas, free wifi, convenient power outlets, it's been a fantastic place to work! Browse through my website, look at all that work... plus, I like seeing website hits! So Crawley, not the most exciting place in the world, but my time here has been invaluable to me and finding a job. The gallery below will give you a little insight to what I've been up to this past month.
